Is surround sound audio possible?

We have what we call TAG Ad-hoc routables, which are essentially full screen MIVs with caption overlay. The audio coming into TAG is 5.1 surround, and we can see the surround meters on the left side of the screen. On the right side are green stereo meters and we are only getting stereo audio from TAG into our Wohler audio monitor. A co-worker, who knows the TAG system much better than I do claims TAG can only output stereo audio. I find that hard to believe. All of our audio PIDs are set to Transcode, not pass-through, if that helps.

Hi Scott
Thanks for reaching out!
TAG supports detection of Dolby-e, Dolgby digital AC3 and Dolby atmos on the input side.
On the output side you can passthrough AC3 only when using PASSTHROUGH MODE on the input AC3 PID you wish to output through output PID X.
note that this is possible only for the compressed output (SRT, TS…) which can have up to 32 output audio PIDS.
Uncompressed outputs will ALWAYS downmix to stereo, and only 1 audio component can be generated, which is the first one on the audio output table, the rest of the outputs PIDS will only come out of the compressed output.
So, in 2110 audio output and in transcoded mode we will ALWAYS MIX DOWN the audio to stereo using Dolby SDK.
For example, if you want to passthrough 5.1 through output PID 1 and stereo through PID 2 on compressed output configure the output like that:

Hope it’s all clear and don’t hesitate to contact us again for any questions.

Forgot to circle back and say “Thanks”. This worked as described. AC-3 on source pid 101. Output passThrough on pid 202.
